The cycle "Façonner l'avenir" is generously supported by the Fondation Bettencourt Schueller in the context of the Chaire Innovation et Savoir-Faire. It is an integral part of the 4th year curriculum of students of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, and is the result of coordinated efforts from the departments Design Textile & Matière and Design Objet in order to introduce students to a research- and innovation based practice that is rooted in design.

For its previous edition (2014), the cycle addressed technological issues with the aim to rethink textile design in a context of resilience, which is to say a cultural system with the capacity of absorbing disturbances, and the ability to reorganize itself in a period of turbulent transformation. The cycle featured amongst others the philosopher Bernard Stigler (FR), designer Elena Corchero (ES), and floral ink entrepreneur Anne de la Sayette (FR).
